28 National Park Bucket List

I found this one by accident while tromping around looking for the nearby EarthCache! It wasn’t on the map so I had to do some sleuthing to figure out what I’d found. I knew it was a geocache—the label made that part easy (the log sheet too). After signing my name, I snapped a picture so I’d have a list of finders and dates to dig into. I really thought I’d be at it for a while, cross-referencing all the info on the website, but I also used the messenger app to contact a few finders directly. Thanks to Raven and his use of GSAK, I had my answer within hours instead of days. What a fun story!

The cache is in great condition. It still needs a genuine log sheet but Raven’s impromptu replacement a year ago is still holding up nicely. It also served as an additional clue to confirm the find. This earns a fave for several reasons: 💚

My geosenses led me first to a different structure. I bent down and looked up directly into the multifaceted eyes of an angry-looking wasp. Before we could even exchange pleasantries, I backpedaled and decided to check the hint. It was perfect for redirecting my attention to the correct structure, which did not have a grumpy guardian (that I could see anyway).
