RW asked for help with this puzzle at a lunch event on Wednesday. I told her I'd take a look.
What a journey this solve was! I tried so many different approaches and got so many sad Homers. I was absolutely stumped. I messaged the CO and a previous solver. Neither of them remembered the exact method they'd used, but I got enough nudges to put me on the right track. I worked several angles and was still making Homer sad (maybe he was even mad at me by now?).
Thursday night, I finally found numbers that made perfect sense for the northerly, but even now, the method for the westerly still eludes me. I donned my detective hat. With some sleuthing on Google Maps and several solid hunches, I was able to grab a set of coordinates that allowed Homer to stretch his legs and dance.
I was tempted to go for the FTF right then. I texted RW that I'd solved it ("solved it"). She asked if she could come with me... Saturday morning. What?! Oh, she wants to maintain her daily FTF streak. Okay, sure. Wait, HOW early?! You'll drive? Okay, I'm in.
I'm not sure how MsPatt learned of our plans, but at 6:30 this morning, we all met in my front lawn, loaded up, and headed to GZ. We signed a blank log, the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon. I think it was still yawning.
